If you are one of the candidates who applied for the 2024 JAMB UTME and you want to make some changes in your registration details, this post is for you. In this post, I will explain the different types of changes you can make, the requirements, the cost, and the steps to follow.
Types of Changes You Can Make
JAMB allows candidates to make changes in the following categories:
- Names Correction: This is for candidates who made mistakes in spelling or arrangement of their names. For example, if your name is John Doe and you mistakenly wrote Doe John, you can correct it to John Doe. You can only do this once.
- Date of Birth Correction: This is for candidates who entered the wrong date of birth during registration. For example, if your date of birth is 01/01/2004 and you mistakenly wrote 01/01/2003, you can correct it to 01/01/2004. You can only do this once.
- Passport Photograph Correction: This is for candidates who uploaded a wrong or unclear passport photograph during registration. For example, if your passport photograph is blurred or does not show your face clearly, you can upload a new one that meets the JAMB requirements. You can only do this once.
- Gender Correction: This is for candidates who selected the wrong gender during registration. For example, if you are a male and you mistakenly selected female, you can correct it to male. You may need to provide supporting documents for this change. You can only do this once.
- State/LGA Correction: This is for candidates who selected the wrong state or local government area of origin during registration. For example, if you are from Lagos State and you mistakenly selected Ogun State, you can correct it to Lagos State. You may need to provide supporting documents for this change. You can only do this once.
- Profile Correction: This is for candidates who want to update their profile details such as email address, phone number, etc. For example, if you changed your email address or phone number after registration, you can update it on your profile. You can only do this once.
- Choice of Institution/Course Correction: This is for candidates who want to change their choice of institution or course after registration. For example, if you applied for Medicine at UNILAG and you want to change it to Pharmacy at OAU, you can do so. You can do this multiple times with separate payments.
How Much is JAMB Change of Course/Institution
The cost of each change is N2,500 (two thousand five hundred naira only). You will need to pay online using your ATM card or through a bank branch that accepts JAMB payments.
How to Do JAMB Correction of Data
To make any of the changes above, follow these steps:
- Go to the JAMB portal at https://efacility.jamb.gov.ng/.
- Login with your Email and Password.
- Click on ‘Registration (2024 only)’ from the list of services on the left side.
- From the drop-down, select ‘2024 UTME Data Correction’.
- On the next page, choose the category of change you want to make and click on ‘Proceed’.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to complete your payment and make your changes.
- Print out your payment receipt and data correction slip for reference.
Note: You can only make changes on your own phone number, email address and state/LGA of origin. For other changes, you will need to visit any JAMB accredited centre or JAMB office with your payment receipt and data correction slip.
Why You Should Make the Changes Early
It is advisable to make any changes you want as early as possible before the admission process begins. This is because some institutions may have specific cut-off marks or requirements for different courses or faculties. If you change your course or institution late, you may miss out on some opportunities or be disqualified from admission.
Also, making changes early will help you prepare better for the post-UTME screening or aptitude test of your preferred institution or course. You will be able to focus on the relevant subjects and topics that will be tested.
