The NYSC green card is an essential document that contains your personal and academic details, as well as your state of deployment and batch number. You’ll need this document throughout your NYSC service year, so make sure you print it out and keep it safe.

How to Pay for NYSC Call Up Letter

To pay for your call-up letter, follow these steps:

• Log in to your NYSC dashboard using your registered email address and password.
• Click on the “Proceed to Payment” button and follow the instructions to make the payment using your debit card or bank account.
• Once the payment is successful, you’ll receive a confirmation message and an email with a link to print your NYSC green card.
• Click on the link and print out your NYSC green card. You can also download it to your device for future reference.

Obtaining Medical Fitness Certificate

The next thing you need to do after paying for your call-up letter is to obtain your medical fitness certificate. This is a mandatory requirement for all prospective corps members attending the NYSC orientation camp.

The medical fitness certificate is a document that verifies that you are physically and mentally fit to participate in the camp’s activities and programs. It also helps the NYSC officials to provide you with the necessary medical care and attention in case of any emergency.

Without this certificate, you won’t be allowed to enter or register at the camp. Therefore, it’s crucial to obtain your medical fitness certificate well in advance.

• The test will include a physical examination, blood test, urine test, chest x-ray, and other relevant tests depending on your medical history and condition.
• The test will cost you between N1,000 and N5,000 depending on the hospital or clinic you choose.
• Once the test is done, you’ll receive your medical fitness certificate signed and stamped by a qualified medical practitioner.
• Make sure you print out your medical fitness certificate and keep it safe. You’ll need to present it at the camp along with your NYSC green card and other documents.

Printing NYSC Call-Up Letter

The third thing you need to do after obtaining your medical fitness certificate is to print your NYSC call-up letter. This is another essential document that contains vital information about your NYSC service year, such as:

• Your name and registration number
• Your state of deployment and orientation camp venue
• Your reporting date and time
• Your stream and batch number
• Your kit specifications and camp rules

Preparing for NYSC Orientation Camp

The fourth and final thing you need to do after printing your NYSC call-up letter is to prepare for your NYSC orientation camp. This is the first phase of your NYSC service year, where you’ll undergo a three-week training program that will equip you with the skills and knowledge you need to serve your country.

The orientation camp is also a great opportunity to meet and interact with other prospective corps members from different states and backgrounds. You’ll also get to experience the culture and lifestyle of your host state and community.

To make the most of your orientation camp experience, you need to come prepared with the following essential items:

• Bedding items: You’ll need to bring your own mattress, pillow, bedsheets, and blanket to the camp. The NYSC will not provide these items for you, so make sure you pack them in a big bag or a carton.
• Toiletries: You’ll need to bring your own soap, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrush, towel, sponge, tissue paper, sanitary pads, and other personal hygiene items to the camp. The NYSC will not provide these items for you, and they may be expensive or scarce at the camp market.
• Mosquito repellent: You’ll need to bring your own mosquito repellent to the camp, as the camp environment may be infested with mosquitoes and other insects. The NYSC will not provide this item for you, and it may be vital for your health and comfort.
• Comfortable clothing and footwear: You’ll need to bring your own comfortable clothing and footwear to the camp, as you’ll be engaged in various physical and social activities. The NYSC will provide you with two sets of khaki uniform, two white vests, two white shorts, one crested vest, and one pair of jungle boots. However, you’ll need to bring your own white sneakers, white socks, underwear, casual wear, and slippers.
• Documents: You’ll need to bring your original and photocopies of the following documents to the camp:
  • NYSC call-up letter
    NYSC green card
  • Medical fitness certificate
  • Academic certificates (degree, HND, OND, NCE, etc.)
  • School ID card
  • Passport photographs (at least eight)
• These documents will be required for your registration and verification at the camp. Make sure you keep them in a waterproof folder or envelope and carry them with you at all times.
• Extra cash: You’ll need to bring some extra cash to the camp, as you may need to pay for some services or buy some items at the camp. The NYSC will pay you a monthly allowance of N33,000, but you may not receive it until after the orientation camp. Therefore, it’s advisable to bring at least N10,000 to N15,000 to the camp, depending on your needs and preferences.
