What is ICPC?

ICPC stands for Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Commission. It is a federal government agency that was established in 2000 by the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Act. The ICPC has the power to investigate, arrest, prosecute and confiscate assets of persons or organizations involved in corruption or other related offenses. The ICPC also has the mandate to educate and enlighten the public on the dangers of corruption and the benefits of integrity.

The ICPC is headed by a chairman, who is appointed by the president with the approval of the senate. The chairman is assisted by 12 other members, who are also appointed by the president. The members of the commission are drawn from various sectors of the society, such as law, accounting, public service, civil society, media, etc.

The ICPC Salary Structure 2024

As a federal government agency, the ICPC salary structure is based on the consolidated public service salary structure (CONPSS), which is also used by other agencies such as EFCC, CBN, FIRS, etc. The CONPSS is a unified salary scale that determines the salaries and allowances of public servants in Nigeria.

The CONPSS has 15 grade levels (GL), with each grade level having 15 steps. The higher the grade level and step, the higher the salary and allowance. The grade level and step of an ICPC staff depends on their qualification, rank and experience.

According to reliable sources, the average salary of an entry-level staff at ICPC Nigeria on grade level 8, step 1 is around N74,000 per month, which amounts to about N888,000 per annum. Their counterparts on grade level 8, step 2 earn a monthly salary of about N75,000.

Graduates of polytechnics, i.e. HND holders, are placed on grade level 7, step 1, and earn a monthly salary of about N50,000, which translates to N600,000 per annum. Allowances and bonuses significantly increase their salary package.
