If you are planning to take the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Nigeria, you need to create a JAMB profile online.

A JAMB profile is a personal account that contains your basic information, such as your name, date of birth, email address, phone number, and exam details.

Creating a JAMB profile is part of the requirements for registering and writing the UTME. In this blog post, I will show you how to create a JAMB profile easily and what to do in case you encounter any issues.

What is a JAMB Profile?

Your JAMB profile is your personal account on the JAMB portal. It contains your biodata, contact information, and other necessary details. Having a JAMB profile is a mandatory requirement for anyone who wishes to register for JAMB exams.

With your JAMB profile, you can do the following on the JAMB portal:

  • Examination Registration: You can use your JAMB profile to register for the UTME or Direct Entry (DE) exams online. You will also need to provide your JAMB profile code, which is a unique identification number, during the registration process.
  • Check your UTME results online: You can use your JAMB profile to check your UTME results online as soon as they are released. You will need to login to your JAMB profile and click on the “Check UTME Results” button.
  • Check your JAMB admission status: You can use your JAMB profile to track your admission status on the JAMB CAPS portal. You will be able to see the institutions that have offered you admission, accept or reject the admission, and print your admission letter.
  • Correction of personal data: You can use your JAMB profile to correct any errors or mistakes in your personal data, such as name, date of birth, gender, state of origin, etc. You will need to login to your JAMB profile and click on the “Correction of Data” button.
  • Acceptance or rejection of admission: You can use your JAMB profile to accept or reject the admission offered to you by any institution on the JAMB CAPS portal. You will need to login to your JAMB profile and click on the “Admission Status” button.
  • Change of Course/Institution: You can use your JAMB profile to change your course or institution of choice after the UTME exam. You will need to login to your JAMB profile and click on the “Change of Course/Institution” button.
  • Regularization of Admissions: Candidates who need to regularize their admissions (for instance, those admitted through means other than JAMB) use their profiles to do so. You will need to login to your JAMB profile and click on the “Regularization of Admission” button.

How to Create a JAMB Profile

There are two methods of creating a JAMB profile: via mobile or via email. We will explain both methods in detail below.

Method 1: How to Create JAMB Profile Via SMS

You can create a JAMB profile easily by sending a text message on your mobile phone. Follow these steps:

  • Send an SMS to 55019 in this format: Surname FirstName MiddleName from your personal mobile number. For example, if your name is John Doe Smith, send “Doe John Smith” to 55019. This message will attract a N50 SMS charge.
  • You will receive a confirmation message from JAMB containing your JAMB profile code, which is a 10-digit number. For example, “Your confirmation code is 1234567890”.
  • You will also receive a message containing your login details to your JAMB profile. For example, “Your login details are: Email: johndoe@gmail.com, Password: 123456”.
  • You can now use your JAMB profile code and login details to access your JAMB profile on the JAMB portal.
